rogue shifter help!!!

hey guys i just picked up a rogue short shifter....my problem is i can't even get by the first step...i started twisting the shift **** and after 40 turns it's not giving...does any body have an idea what the "F" im doing wrong....i know it's supposed to be hard to take off but damn, it almost seems like it's turning all together as one....thnx in advance for the advise.

its a bit*h to get off the first time I use channel locks on the metal shifter and broke the thread lock then twisted it off a lot of times

You need to lock the bar in place first with some pliers while you turn.

thnx guys...what i did not relieze is that i had to hold it down with vise grips undernieth and then turn it...so when i kept turning it around the whole thing turned....i was like the three stooges getting no where fast...so i had my buddy hold the bottom plastic down while i turned the **** counter clockwise and wala!....thnx for the help

awsome.....i drove it to work this morning for the first time and wow, every thing people on this forum said about it is true, only one thing....im getting a loose rattle from the spacer thats in the ****....but i'll figure out a way to stabilize it.....maybe wrap a layer of some gas pipe tape who knows?

You just need to tighten the shiftknob more! Use a thick rag around the squareish part of the shiftknob and use some vise grips over the rag (Make sure you use enough rag to not damage shifter) and crank it around one more time. Hand tightening doesn't get it tight enough. One more turn should do it and no more rattle! It's that little brass bearing that rattles when the **** is not seated all the way down! I had the same thing.
