Clutch effort

Has anyone found a way to reduce the clutch effort on the 6mt? All of the other controls are far lighter than the clutch. I've felt lighter clutches on high performance 'chevys' (sorry).
The clutch just seems out of place. Even the shifter is smoothing out @ 1,000 miles. Not a Miata, but not bad at all...
Part two. Back in the Miata days, the forums were extolling the benefits of Red Line trans oil to smooth out the shifting. Anyone here tried this?
Thanks in advance...

Re: Clutch effort

I think the clutch is on the light side.

Try driving a manual trans Mustang Cobra. Now THAT is a heavy clutch (for a car). Even the standard Mustang GT has a far heavier clutch than the G35.

The only lighter clutches that I've experienced are on some small Honda and Mazda cars. And the G35 clutch is only a bit heavier than some of those.

Re: Clutch effort

I hate the clutch. The hydraulic pop it has on lift off is annoying and the fact it can't be adjusted aggrevates me. But other than that the firmness is fine.

Re: Clutch effort

The clutch can be adjusted. You can adjust it to grab lower off the floor if you think the engagement point is too high.

Unfortunately, there is no way to adjust the clutch "effort". That is determined by the springs built into the pressure plate. Even if you installed an aftermarket clutch/pressure plate, chances are that it would be HEAVIER than the stock clutch, since most aftermarket units are made to withstand more HP/TQ.

You must've missed the thread. Do a search and I'm sure you'll come across it......
