Any lightened flywheel is going to exhibit this noise to a certain extent.

But the aftermarket clutch itself is worth it. It's very grabby, and annoys the few people that I've let drive the car. But once you get used to it, it's quite nice.

Thanks for the tip. Much appreciated. I'll keep that in mind for whenever Cheryl burns up her clutch in her 07.

Thanks for being so honest, Trey. I'll likely go with my gut and sell this NISMO flywheel and go with the OEM DM unit. I have the NISMO clutch, roller-bearing bushing and SGP SS clutch line also awaiting install.

I have my issues with the OEM DM flywheel, but I'm also looking at a possible trade in '08.

You know, my '05 only has about 4,800 miles on it. I wonder if the flywheel would be in good enough shape to mate to the new clutch without issue?

You know, guys like you make me sick . I purchased my car on June 12th, 2005, with like 6 miles on it(almost all of which I put on during a test drive). Since then, I have put on 37000 miles, and even gotten a new engine.

4,800. That's crazy. With mileage like that, I saw get a TT kit and crank up the boost to 16psi. With as little as you drive you'll have no risk of blowing the motor

My drive-distance may increase some soon, as I'll be moving homes and offices. But it's a small town, so commutes are short. I haven't taken it on a road trip yet, but I do hit the highway every day I drive it... ...and I do drive it pretty hard.

Anyone want to take a guess as if my OEM flywheel will be good enough to use when I replace the clutch? I guess it's a matter of not knowing until the clutch install.

Your flywheel will be fine. You'll want to get it resurfaced, otherwise the clutch surface won't match up correctly. But with only ~5k on the flywheel, that shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks again, Trey.

I'll be selling the NISMO flywheel if anyone is interested (new, never installed). Paid $475 but will probably sell it for $375 shipped within the continental US.

It was a hard choice, but knowing that I'll be looking to trade the car in '08 or so, I'd be better served sticking with the OEM dual-mass unit.

The more I keep reading about the aftermarket flywheel chatters, makes me wonder if I even should install my JWT or if it's even worth it.

FWIW, if I was planning to keep the car longer than I am, it would likely be worth it to me to install this lightweight flywheel. The noise level is of some personal concern, however, it's more a matter of keeping the car more marketable for trade-in/selling.

ive had the car for about a week now with the setup. 200miles. i only have good things to say about it. feels great. better than stock, but still similar. i have not yet launched it hard or chirped any gears beacuse of the break in period but it downshifts beautifuly.

the chatter is there, and personally dont mind it. its only when driving around town under 2k rpms. when your at a stop sign, stop light etc. its obv more prominient. i even noticed a little chatter in neutral. however, its really not as bad as those who dont have it installed think. it is 100 percent tolerable under any car enthusists standards. do not let the fear of a such a minor harmless sound prevent you from enjoying the benefits of the lighter flywheel. and it sure as hell isn't goin to lower the cars marketablity.

Thanks for the insight. I can't wait to get it installed now.

And I was worried something was wrong with my car. lol The noise level can be rather annoying at times, but the actual benefits and improvement over the stock clutch are worth it mostly.

So I take it there is no fixiing this? *sigh*
