shifter trim/boot off? Just pull, I'm thinking there is clips
that hold it down?

I was going to get a new cup here:
http://www.350evo.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/44_80
But see their prices are up. It was only like 12.95 when I got my RE/SS
Anyway, I used my original socket with no problems. Used a vise, piece of wood and gave it a good smack. Came off with no problems.
I figured mine was less than a year old and very little wear and age. But if yours is old and lots of shifts on it, yeah I'd replace it while you're in there anyways.

Very happy with mine. FYI: don't tighten the linkage bolt underneath more than 10 ft/lbs. Rogue installation instructions state that tourqe number.
I made the mistake of over tightening and it made the shifts stiff in movement. Loosened back to 10 ft/lbs and now smooth as butter.

Don't forget greasing that cup real good too when you reinstall.

Any multi-purpose grease will work. That's what it says in the service manual to use.
I used some Mobil Synthetic high temp lubricating grease I had kicking around.

I though so too before I got mine and from what I read in other threads about the Rogue. Was reading it had to be lithium type.

But when I down loaded Rogue's install instructions from their site, they just say to use 'grease'. They don't say a certain type...lol

Not to confuse anyone. I spoke to R/E on the phone awhile back
and they stated PTFE grease because of outside elements under
the car.

LOL...no confusion taken. They need to update their downloadable .pdf install file on their site then.
This is all they say about grease.

Attachment 64372

thats why I called. I read on the Z site alot of guys only using the
1 type. I havent been under there to see how weather/temps would effect
the shifter.

I havent been in the car in a while. Does the boot attach to the
trim piece around the shifter? Do I need to worry about breaking clips?
That pdf file only shows a Z install
