RE short shifer--control socket
hey guys, i just took out the oem shifter from my 06 coupe and i dont see how you guys got the control socket (white peice that surrounds the ball of shifter) off the shifter. i have myself and a friend forcing it off and no luck, can barely get a grip on it...
any help on it, i do not want to brake it off or damage it to get it off as i have no extra peice and dont wanna wait for a new one if i was to order it
thanks guys,

It's really not that hard...just place it upside down through a vice (threads facing the ground) hit the bottom of it with a rubber mallet. It only took two wacks for me and it popped out. To install the short shifter just flip it around and repeat.

I got it off but the rubber surrounding the control shifter with the teeth in it has been damaged...
its still on the socket control, but I can move it, will I be fine or am i better of getting a new peice?
i figure id get a new peice but just wondering what your thoughts are

Around $26, I had to wait 2 months since Oct.... they're off back order now, hurry b4 they run out again.
When I installed the new one I boiled a pot of water then soaked it for 5 mins to soften it a little before popping the shifter in, not one tooth broke.
