Question having the same ol' problem..HELP!

ok..this is my second thread on this ...the last one was about a year ago...the problem is that my 3rd is still grinding...the last thread i did the grinding wasnt as bad as it is now..it seems like everytime i pop it into 3rd gear it grinds real bad!...the thing is i took it into the dealership a few times about it (over here in Cerritos) and they test drove it and said nothing was wrong with it...but the thing that really confuses me is that when i put it into gear normally/or slowly there is no grind....but then when i try to gun it or pop it into 3rd it grinds pretty bad .....another thing is that my warranty just expired last month and it costs me $100 just for the dealership to look at my car ...even though me complainin' about the grind is on record...do u guys think its my transmission?...and what should i do?.....
-thanks mo-

It's your synchro. Very common problem, nissan has replaced 1,000's of transmissions for it. I'm on #2.

If you have been in before and they sent you away I would go back and push the fact. Check out my350z.com, there is a 20+ page thread of people who have had their tranny's replaced for the synchro issue.

The dealer did mine with no problem when it was grinding 2nd and 5th. I even had a supercharger on my car at the time.

I would strongly encourage you to go back to the dealership and speak to the Service Manager, show them your receipt and how much you paid for a techinician to test drive your car, (if that's all they really did, that is an absurd price!), and then ask the Service Manager to come with you and you drive the car and show them the noise. Then ask for your money back and negotiate having this repaired under warranty, since you initially attempted to bring this to their attention while the car was under warranty and this was documented. Be polite. Be nice. But be firm. Good luck with it.

Per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act, (a federal consumer protection law), the supercharger, (or any modification), does not have any negative affect on the warranty unless the supercharger, (or what have you), was the direct cause of the part failing and this can be proven. Of course, a supercharger doesn't decide to select only two gears out of the transmission to pick on.
