Dealer said to change clutch....

I was wondering why my clutch pedal clicked when depressed so i took it to the dealer. They said that my clutch was worn and has about 5000 miles remaining. They said its going to cost around $1100 to put in a new one ... Ok so should i go with them or get a aftermarket one thats probably better...if so which aftermarket clutch should i get????? I need it for daily driving, so no clutches that require you to shift fast or something

I just went with the dealership because they'll warranty the parts for 1 year/12,000 miles

Does it click when you release or depress the clutch? i had some sort of clicking problem wihle releasing, and they replaced the clutch pedal assembly and that was that.

How many miles do you have on your car? have u driven the car hard enough that u believe u may require a new clutch or they just tryin to pull your leg. is it slipping at all?

How many miles do you have on it? Do you launch hard? Have you driven it hard? Have you noticed a change in engagement? I would have a hard time changing the clutch because of a "clicking" noise.

i have like 20 k on the odometer right now, i dont drive hard but while i was learning to drive stick in this car, perhaps i burned the clutch a little. I drove my friends G and the engagement was much better, like lower and more smooth. The clicking sound occurs when i release the clutch pedal, and the dealer said its a "button" thats clicking and theres nothing wrong with it, and then they said clutch is worn out and has 5k left at the most...

How long do the clutches last in this car?

My first stick was a 1994 Probe GT and that got traded in with 107K with original clutch. My brother's first was a 1994 Dodge Stealth 130K original clutch. I had a service manager in my car (to check out pinging) and he was asking about my clutch and the car only has 15K miles. He was saying the longest he's seen them go is 30K miles. That's ridiculous this car isn't that fast nor does it handle that well to have crazy maintenance like this.

Handling affects the clutch?

give this thread a read, it might be (one) of your problems.

https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...lutch+clicking

concerning the worn clutch i have no idea..to make it go out at 20k is pretty crazy unless it was defective or something

your service tech is an idiot. u need to have your clutch pedal replaced. it's happened to me twice. sounds like the clicking noise from a jar... and how does he know that u have 5k miles left on the clutch. did the magical clutch fairy tell him? he's blowing smoke up your butt. go to another stealership.

clutch

i purchased a 03 with 40,000 mi. 6speed manual. the first clutch went out at 15,000 mi. the dealer replaced it under warranty mine went out at 25,000 later.while the car was still under warranty but infiniti would not replace it under warranty. i could not see the logic in getting another factory clutch. i got an aftermarket clutch and a parted out 350z flywheel with 300mi. on it for half what the dealer wanted for a factory replacement.

I never thought these would be covered under warranty. I just had mine changed 10K miles ago w/ my 1st warranty tranny swap, now my tranny is getting swapped again and they are telling me it's halfway worn already. Should I be looking for warranty coverage or is it up to the dealership? Although can drive pretty hard at times, I know how to drive an MT and have had serveral cars before w/ no prob.

I don't see how they can tell you that you have "5000 miles left on the clutch". I'd say drive it until it starts slipping. Then you'll know for sure that it needs to be replaced. If they say the clicking sound is normal, then changing the clutch won't make it go away anyway....

You should also adjust your clutch...your friend probably did it. It makes the clutch start grabbing earlier (not the last inch on the pedal like stock).
