How much power can i look to hold on my AT? Ive ruled out turbo kits as i have heard they simply will not reach maximum gains as if on an MT. Whats a reasonable rwhp i can expect to reach w or w/o supercharging, that my AT will handle? Thanks.

EDIT- I may decide to supercharge my G-coupe later this summer or around christmas time, but for now with basic upgrades ie. air intake, manifold, plenum spacers, exhaust, chip upgrade... Will i be safe on my AT holding the power i will gain from those?

 

why wouldn't an AT be able to hold the power?

I would think any basic mod you do to a MT you could do to a AT

 

I'd say no more than 300rwtq, probably more like 280rwtq on a daily driver with relatively harder driving. Don't focus on "HP", it's the torque that breaks trannies and also heat on automatics. Remember, HP is derived from torque and don't believe any company's hype if they rate transmission components in HP.

 

Yep, 300 is about it on the stock setup. This tranny sits behind the V8 in the Q so it is pretty understressed in the G, but above 300 its gonna die early. And you won't like its behaviour while its alive either. A valvebody upgrade and a remote cooler is mandatory for any JATCO/FI setup.
