Has anybody had this problem.... (6MT)

Sometimes when I'm in 1st gear or second gear.......and I need to engage the clutch to come to a stop sign....... I hear this loud rattle or "thunk" sound coming from under the car...... I never happens in any of my other gears..... just the first two.... Does anybody know what this could be.....

Ive never heard that..

have you experienced any clucth slip?

furthermore, do any of your gears feel rather "notchy"?

reason I ask if perhaps your clucth is going

I have it... It also happens when I'm just sitting at a drivethru or somewhere where it echos... Like, a clunk, tick, stupid noise that makes my car sound like it's old. I hate it, basically.

Iunno. *sad shrug with tears*

Yes, my clutch needs to be replaced here shortly.....but I would not think that my clutch could cause that noise....it almost sounds like something is loose..... I could be wrong......

Yeah, the best way to describe that is being loose or something, pretty freggin retarded. I don't want to have to buy another clutch right now, at all.

I have that problem. What's weird is that after I got the tranny and differential oil changed, it shifted better/smoother but made more noise! WTF?????

actually, this sound has been described in more than one magazine article....car & driver, road & track, automobile mag, etc.. as a lot of magazine editors have complained about the noise...my car makes this noise as well but i was kinda expecting it...thought it was normal for a G....and i seriously dont hope its my clutch as i have only 5k on the odo.

I have the same issue and I have an aftermarket clutch but I love it when your sitting in the drive thru and it sounds like you tranny is going to fall out and the dealer just tells you it is normal for our cars with a lighter flywheel then normal I dont buy it I think it has to do with the tranny issues they have

What aftermarket clutch do you have? The sound is from the pressure plate touching the throw out bearing...which on an aftermarket clutch should be beefed up.

when i was first learning how to drive stick with the g i was driving on a downward slope and was in 1st. i pressed the clutch and it made a loud clunk noise. also i notice if you go past 4k when on 1st or 2nd let go of the gas and wait about a second before pressing the clutch, it will clunk if u dont press gently

Holy runon sentence Batman its not the tranny making the noise its your aftermarket flywheel the stock flywheel is a dualmass setup so it dampens some of the latent noise present in the system your lightweight flywheel is likely a single piece unit it does not feature this built in dampening thats why you hear that noise.

Wow - that was as difficult to type as it will be to read.

I heard that the tranny for our car has gone through quite a few revisions since the car was introduced in 03. I heard that it has gone through 9 revisions already. Not sure how accurate that is so please correct me if I am wrong. When I am taking off in 1st gear or 2nd gear, I can hear a constant clicking or creaking. Sounds like broken bearings or someone playing with zip ties under my car or something. I have been told that this sound is normal....but to me it just doesn't seem right. Not sure if anything can be done about it. Any thoughts?
