I have around 80k on my car and I dont seem to notice any problems, except once in a blue moon. You might wanna have your tranny checked out. A valve body upgrade might help your problem. I have heard that using tiptronic a lot is hard on the tranny but I am not sure if that is really causing your problem? See what happens when you flush you tranny fluild, if that doesnt do it PM me if u want and I will talk to a guy at my shop and see what he has to say (car expert).

Does it tend to do it after you have been driving a while or even when the engine is cold? Heat is a big enemy to auto trannys.

Mine's been shifting harshly in manumatic in lower gears since day 1.

As for tranny lag, that's controlled by the ECU mostly - try disconnecting the battery and you should notice it go away (unfortunately, it will come back w/i a week or two unless you flog the car every second of the day ) ..... stupid electronics, last time I own a japanese car

My was a little hard, so I flushed the trans and refilled. That helped a lot. Quick starts will burn the fluid quicker which results in harder shifts because the fluid has broken down. I changed mine about 5,000 miles ago, I had 35,000 miles on it and it need it. If the fluid is brown and smells burned, time to change. The shifts smoothed out even more when I installed the grounding kit.

I doubt the dealer will replace your tranny only because of harsh shifts. That seems to be a characteristic of our transmissions.

I do not own a 5AT, I have a 6MT. I always thought the 5AT's were smoother and less notchy than our 6MT's. Guess not...

I'll be switching to Royal Purple 75W90 for the tranny/differential and RP 5w30 for the engine oil.

Hopefully that helps.

PS. I only have 8K miles on my 06 6MT. But those 8K's were driven hard... VERY hard

.

No dealer would replace your tranny just because of rough shifting btw

If longevity after 70k warranty is a concern the earlier you start ATF replacement the better.............aggressive driving needs at least an every 30k replacement.........or you'll start seeing problems after 100k.

Remember AT cost $4,000+

I hope you have better luck with it than I did. My '05 6MT didn't like it all. I changed fluid as I was starting to get some notchiness/catching going into different gears. Nothing close to a grind, but not as smooth as it was. Pretty much seemed like the OEM fluid needed a change.

The RP resulted in a bit more notchiness/catching. It was noticeable enough, as it was worse than before. After one day, I took it to the local Nissan dealership and had them change it to the OEM fluid. Smooth as new, for a few months and now it's getting back to where it was.

FWIW, I don't think the OEM fluid is up to the job (as it stops working so good in such a short amount of time), however, my experience with the RP was worse still.

i get the hard shifts in manual mode too especially from 2nd to 3rd but only sometimes. It's weird like if i shift at a certain point and let off the gas it shifts really hard. It has done it from day one from what i can remember and I bought it new. anyone else have that problem?
