the ecu adapts some to your driving style.

Remember AT cost $4,000+
remember to stick with the oem fluid!

the 2nd-3rd firm shift is characteristic. it's probably a good thing (easier on the tranny).

my tranny is super smooth in full auto (D) and fairly smooth 90% of the time in MM mode.

23k miles.

don't put anything other than matic-J fluid and don't over or under fill. full flushes are recommended every 2 years or a drain and fill every year.

I have an 05 A/T and i had my radiator changed, the idiots who did it didnt replace the fluid with the J-Matic the car takes..... I found that my shifts between 2nd and 3rd on manual mode are really rough, almost like a kick... I just had my tranny flushed and it has smoothed away. My fluid was almost a maroone color when they had it flushed and guess what.... my tranny only has 6,800 miles! Turns out the other mechanic put some walmart fluid in the car and it mixed in nasty with the J-matic and was causing a mess. Regardless $250 to flush, $110 on 12 quarts of fluid from dealer a lot better than $4000!.

I had the same exact problem as you. I just hit 40K and brought the car into be serviced. They did a tranny flush and she drives like new now.
