Chatter sound coming from gear box?

I have this wierd chatter sound coming from my gear box when the clutch is not pressed. Under acceloration and free revving i can hear the chatter. While accelorating, in between gears when the motor is slowing down i can hear the same chatter, BUT when i free rev or hold at any given rpm while the clutch is pressed the sound goes away. Just started happening and doesnt happen all the time (i.e. last night i drove across town and didnt hear it once but tonight when i drove it for the first time, i did) I've never heard anything like this in any of the cars i've owned and i've driven them all relatively hard. I just want to know what it is, thanks in advance for any help.

yea i know that the G35 is known for that, especially when you shut the car off. It just seems like its gotten louder now than it has since i first bought the car brand new back in 2005.
