Easy to DIY? I do most all the work on my car (BBK, Vortech, springs, sways, exhaust)

I'm going to do one and make a DIY for it (unless I get lazy), but I'm waiting to pull the valve body for an upgrade which should be in the next month or so. It *should* be easy considering the work you've done. I take it you have the shop manual that describes the process?

I would say take it to the dealer it was only 99 dollars at my infiniti dealership and that was for the whole flush where they hook a vacume up to it and actually suck all the fluid out and then do a complete refill. It was a pretty damn good price!

Unfortunately this method only removes 3 of the 10 quarts of ATF, like a pan drain of yore.
Much Much better than doing nothing if you do it annually from mile one.
A BG machine total ATF exchange machine [costs 2-3x more] is a better more effective method every 2 year or 30k.
All depends on when you want to pay $4,500 to replace tranny....at 71k, 100k, 150k, or 200k

I took an AT course when I was in HS, and to do a full fluid/filter change really requires a lift. I wouldn't recommend doing this job without access to a lift and all the necessary transmission tools just in case Nissan through in some crazy pins to hold things together.
personally, I would spend the money and have a professional do it. The last thing you want is for you to not properly seat the filter, or misalign the magnet in the pan and cause extreme damage to your transmission down the road.

No because there are hoses for the tranny cooler it would be easier to drain and refill, but as Q45tech recommends a full flush is better. Your dealer will hook up a special machine that will pump out old fluid while it pumps in the new stuff. 10 full qt exchange. It's worth the $199 (how much I paid) considering how expensive the fluid is by itself.

Flushing denotes using some type of chemical solvent added to ATF to remove varnish and cluctch wear particles.
A BG Machine uses the AT internal pump to pump out ATF into a bladder which then returns an exact equal ammount to AT.
Some other type machines use shop air to turn another pump doing the transfer.................the more natural the better.
First time services should be done around 2 years 30k before too much damage has occured otherwise the chances of problems increase exponentially the longer you wait.
Hower 50k is not usually a dangerous point like 80-100k is.
Always good to budget tranny replacement after 100k just incase, even though they might last 150-200k.
