Rattling noise when shutting off engine

The mechanic claims that it's the pressure plates that is causing the rattling noise when I shut off the engine. Do I need to purchase the entire clutch kit to fix that? Also, how could this problem have occurred?

i got the same thing, and if you depress the clutch and turn off the engine it goes away. i am thinking its the throwout bearing.

this is common and normal. like ascide said, clutch in when shutting off engine will eliminate the rattle.

yeah i occasionally get this. and yeah clutch in and it's fine. though it really doesnt matter to me

I always have the clutch in when turning the car off anyways since I leave it in gear when parked, are you guys leaving the car in neutral when parked?
