5AT Quaife install - I need 3.5 FD Gears
Unfortunately, there is no way to mate a diff designed for the 3.538 to the 3.357 ring.
Quaife is expensive, but I'd never call it overkill. They really should look into bringing back the helical gear diff as an option for OE. They had it on the S15 Silvia. Quaife was even OE in a Neon...
What most people tend to forget about the VLSD is that its a degradeable part and will need to be replaced at some point. On cars driven aggressively or with more power will have a shorter lifespan.
I do think as the aftermarket for this platform matures and more people swap to the 3.357 for the larger power applications, more manufacturers may opt to produce a diff that is compatible. Its unfortunate that Quaife is halting theirs.

I agree completely with the way you do things - I do it that way to. I have mods that are from $5 to over $5000 on my car. If you looked at pics of my car, and know me and my car, you'd never know it unless I stepped on the gas too.
My car looks stock - but that's only the skin. The guts will blow most away, if they had the knowledge. I've considered many times getting a plate that refers to being a sleeper...that'll spoil the fun later though.
So, no issue here - just trying to be objective - my post was not at you Mike, just a generality of my opinion on the OP's desire.

Oh by the way - OP, if you go with the Quaife...you'll love it...I know I do

I never said thanks - I couldn’t be happier with my application! What is brilliant about your approach is you haven’t ever told anyone what to use - just what works and what doesn’t... LOVE it!
Too bad DaveO isn’t out here - he uses the same approach.
Thanks man - for the info you gave on differentials and ring & pinions... Fresh Alloy (I think) - I learned a bunch! My car (well really me) couldn’t be happier!

I thought this section was the gateway to the "drivetrain" section so it would get more exposure, but I'll try anything... because this isn't working.
Good info though - thanks for the responses!

It's already been said, but to reiterate, you cannot put 3.5 gears into a 3.3 diff. You need to swap the whole pumpkin.

I have been looking in all the places people have suggested and I'm waiting for replies. Thanks for all the help.
