Clutch replacment

Hey there.
Went in for my 45k service today. The dealership down here in St. Louis, Plaza Motors, said I need a new clutch - flywheel. Their estimates put the parts and labor at around $2400. The parts - mostly flywheel being $1100. My question is not whether or no I need to replace it, I know I do I feel it when I drive, but rather are there any recommendations WHERE I could buy the necessary components for such a replacement myself and if this a reasonable price for such a replacement?

Thanks for the help.

That sounds about right for the dealership, the dealer will ALWAYS be super expensive... This would be a good time to go aftermarket clutch/flywheel for the same price as OEM, maybe even less depending on what you go with. The flywheel should be able to be resurfaced instead of replaced, that will save you a lot.

+1.

Great advice. Those who trade up have nothing but good things to say afterwards.

I wonder how they knew it needed replacement? It's not that easy if you don't take off the tranny and measure the clutch disc spec.

You can drive it and tell. I think 45k is kinda soon to replace a clutch, but I dunno how your driving habits are. I'm approaching 60k on my clutch and it still feels great. Typically I can get 90-100k or more from a stock clutch.

Thanks for the advice guys. Any advice on any other clutch types and where to purchase them online. I've done some forum searching and found a few different brands but no places that really offer them however.
