5at problems. No reverse

I'm having problems with my tranny. I have about 60k miles. In the morning, my reverse works fine. But it doesn't engage in reverse. It will say R, but it feels like its in neutral.

Do I need a new transmission? I have a 2003 coupe.

Secondly, there is a 2004 350z tranny available that is local to me. Will this work with my 03 coupe?

Did you check the fluid level yet? I think the two transmissions are the same

The fluid level must be the problem. If you are going to wear out your tranny, I wouldn't expect reverse to be the one to go first. (Unless you spend a lot of time in reverse?!?!) Check the fluid and if that doesn't fix it - take it to a really good trans shop or the dealer (if you have a good one).

I took it to the infiniti dealership, and they did my flush last. They said I need a new tranny..... You think I can take their word? I no longer have warranty and the bitch advisor was being a *****.

early 04 should be the same as your 03... 04.5 made some changes (in the G at least, I would think the Z is the same?)...

If in doubt - get a second opinion from a trans shop. They can be rebuilt without requiring a new tranny. (Don't ask how I know.)

Line pressures in R are higher than D.

Check out this thread. Some cool info, too much for me to take all in but some good info just glancing over the pdfs. http://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=297393

Thinking that the average joe transmission shop can rebuild a Jatco [JRE507E] tranny can lead you to make a costly mistake.

Here in Atlanta, the best shops buy Nissan remans from dealer at a discount and charge customers retail...............the worst shops get greasy Mike to throw in a $295 kit [$1500 labor] and hope it makes it thru thru 12/12k warranty.

Nissan/JATCO have built a special standalone factory in Tennessee dedicated to rebuilding their transmissions. Just like Asin has its in North Carolina
