Burning Clutch Smell!!!
Burning Clutch Smell!!!
I got my car back from the bodyshop but the clutch really smell bad!!! I thought maybe the person didn't know how to drive stick but 4 hours has past and this thing still smell. Had the car sit for 40mins and started it and the smell is still there
I have the Competition Stage 2 clutch with their Light FW and I have about 3000 miles with it. My clutch seem to disengage coz when I try to press the clutch all the way and put the gear in 1st, the car doesn't move at all even if I rev the engine to 5000rpm.
Even if they did play a little with my car (I have a ST) still the clutch should've been able to handle some abuse right?

I'd be pissed, quite frankly. It should handle some abuse, and should move some, unless they've completely glazed the clutch.
I still remember watching a Porsche salesman pull a brand new Cayman S into the showroom a few months ago......revving it with the clutch half out.....holy crap the showroom smelled bad! I just felt bad because he worked at a Porsche dealership, drives around $100k+ cars, and can't even f'n drive stick properly....what is the world coming to?

Or someone rode the clutch like an idiot and glazed it as mentioned.

All I know is that I'm a very level-headed, non-violent guy. But if I picked up my car with a roasted clutch, there would be HELL to pay. And I sure as hell would not get it fixed there either....
Just spoke with Competition Tech Support and they say it is normal to have that smell when a pretty new clutch has been driven hard (burn-out, drag kinda abuse) and should go away after a week or two. I just called the shop and they denied driving the car besides parking it
Anyways Competition is very helpful and said that if the smell don't go away after a week then they'll take a look at it but that still will cost me labor to take it out.
I dropped the car 8AM and I was so in a hurry that I forgot to write the milage
but I did turn the boost down to only 5psi. I know they test drove it, who wouldnt
I have many Mechanic friend and every time they see a Turbo car in their shop, they all take their turn driving it.

And that's why I do everything that I can, by myself. Even if I don't know how, I'll try it first, and only take it trusted places if I were to screw up. I don't even like to valet my car.
