My question is, is it necessary to change the drain plug and filler plug gaskets? The service manual clearly states to never reuse a gasket. I know the gaskets are cheap and it wouldn't hurt to change them out but just wanted to know if it's absolutely necessary. And if so does anyone have the part #'s for the gaskets for the drain and filler plug for the manual transmission case and the rear limited slip differential case? Or perhaps point me to an online place that sells these? Thanks. BTW after researching on my350z.com I'm switching out to Redline.

No part numbers are listed in the service manual... I'd just visit my dealer's parts department - can't be more than a few bucks. Good choice going with Redline. I ran it exclusively in my Bimmer and will be changing the G over concurrent with it's first oil change.

 

I went to car quest and got a pack of 6 copper washers that fit my oil drain plug for around 3.00. I change them every couple or three oil changes. I am on my third gasket now. I go about 4000 miles or a little more between oil changes with Mobil one oil.

My differential i have been "getting around to " for about a month now. I will do them (two vehicles) as soon as it warms up a bit (17 degrees this am).

I just changed my tranny fluid to Redline... 50/50 of MTL and MT-90. Noticed the difference right away. Cold start shifting from 1st to 2nd is easier. Shifting in general is easier. Shifting at high RPMS seems smoother. Bascially this stuff works as advertised. As a caution to anyone else that is going to change their tranny or diff fluid on their MT G35, you will need two things out of the ordinary. A 3/8" Drive 10mm hex bit socket for the drain and filler plugs and a pump device to pump in the new oil. I learned the hard way and didn't have a pump made for this purpose. Suffice to say it took me a very long time to get the new oil in with a spray bottle.

so can any take a picture of the differientail and MT tranny fill? I see the drain plug for the differential, but can't figure out where to fill it.

Rambo: LOL... I can look back and laugh at my situation now but at the time I was cursing up a storm. Imagine how long it would take to dispense 3.25 qts of tranny fluid using a spray bottle.

bkchang: The filler plug for the tranny is on the passengers side of the tranny case. You can't see it just by peeking underneath your car. You have to get under there. Once under there it will be visible. Thing is the space is a bit tight there so there is no way you can pour the new fluid with a funnel. A pump device is definitely needed. As for the diff I haven't done that one yet but IIRC the filler plug is also on the side of the case on the passenger side. I'll look at my service manual and let you know.
