Question clutch burning smell going uphill?

I've noticed this twice already...yesterday I stopped in the middle of an incline street (quite steep) to wait for the green light. When it's green I accelerate and go but noticed a rubber burning smell which I think is the clutch. Have you ever experienced this? What could be the problem? Am I not driving correctly and was riding the clutch?!

If your foot was on the clutch pedal still, then this just might be the case.

Yeah youre riding the clutch. For clutching on hills, what I do is when the light is about to turn green, I find the friction point on the clutch. Then when I let my foot of the brake it doesnt roll back as much if at all, then just balance out the gas and clutch like normal. It take a couple times to master but simple.
