2004 G35x:

I have found the hidden dipstick behind the oil check tube, but I'm wondering how much other gear needs to be removed in order to get to it. So far it looks like I should remove the engine cover and the round corrugated intake hose.

Is anything else going to get in the way? Can the corrugated air intake hose be removed by itself, or does the air meter have to come out first?

not sure about the sedan, but with the coupe it's just one bolt that you unscrew and the dip stick will come out

 

That's how it looks, but it also looks like to reach that bolt I have to take off the engine cover and the rubber air intake coupling. Or grow smaller hands!

 

hrm...again, not sure about the sedan, but I can get in there...it's a tight squeeze, but doable...

 

they are the same with sedans and coupes. just try to get to it without removing said parts but if you have to, get to work!

 

That isn't a dipstick for AT fluid. That must be a dipstick for the front differential. My wife's 98 Legacy GT wagon has a dipstick to check the front diff oil.

The AT dipstick (if your's has a dipstick) is located on the passenger back side of the intake manifold.

I just checked mine the other day,

The transmission dip stick on my 05x is located behind Engine,
just under the windshield wiper area, it's kind next to the firewall to the cabin.

There is a 10mm but holding it down.

Ok, HERE'S a question... I just got my used '03 sedan, and the pre-purchase inspection revealed that the dipstick IS NOT on the cover like it should be. Did it fall in, or get lost? Who knows... but how do I find out?

There is a bolt holding it down...

 

On my '03.5 sedan, it comes with the AT dipstick, but I've read on most or several of the '03 models, they do not come with the dipstick.

 

Thanks for the pic, and I want to clarify; the Nissan dealer who inspected the car let me know that when they popped the cap, there was no stick, and they didn't know if it was lost, or fell in. Are one of you saying that my '03 G35 Sedan doesn't come with a AT dipstick?

The picture I supplied was for an early 03 Sedan. It should be there. If you take the cap off and there is no dipstick, maybe you need to buy another cap. I can't see the dipstick falling off because of the "high stress" (NOT) it is under during normal driving.

 

2003 sedans DO NOT come with dipsticks. All that's there is the cap. I purchased my tranny dipstick for $12 shipped from everythingg35.com.
