Hints on Installing Rogue Shifter
Hints on Installing Rogue Shifter
I installed it myself with a buddy yesterday. A few hints if anyone cares. Taking out the shifter is very straight forward and simple. The bolt you remove under the car does "not" have a nut. I didn't have the car on a lift, just car ramps. Hard to see because of drive shaft. I was trying to get a box open wrench around a nut & figured out there isn't one. The biggest problem I had, I could not get the factory control socket off! We pounded that sucker for an hour. In a vice, heated the shifter in boiling water, everything we could think of didn't work. Finally, took it to a Nissan dealer at 6 p.m. last night & I talked a mechanic into using a press. He took it off & put it on the new shifter in 10 minutes. He said, since the part is so new, its "very" difficult to remove by just banging on it. I tip him 20 bucks. All greased up, installing was simple, along with the instructions about the plate guide. Next problem, believe it or not was the rubber boot under the car! The rubber edge fits into a round groved part. It took me under the car & buddy inside car with his hands on the rubber flaps(you will see them) to reseat that rubber cover. So, if you don't have the tools, save yourself some grief. Take the shifter somewhere and have the control socket "press" out. Take some grease with you, so they can put it on the ball & socket. The shifter sits a liitle higher than stock. It feels very good when shifting. Tighter & more percise. The throw doesn't seem that much shorter than stock. Another little problem was the leather boot & my Momo Comp. shifter. After a little dental floss around the top of boot to make tighter, it fits perfect and doesn't slip down the shaft. Hope this helps someone.
