Easing that 1-2 Shift.

Well everyone knows that the transmission on these cars aren't as smooth as others out there, but it CAN be driven smoothly.

I've been trying for four months since I got the car to try to ease that damn 1-2 shift. The problem is that no matter what there is

always some type of abrupt movement. I've found that granny launching and then slowly off gas then shifting doesn't work too well.

But then again quick take offs will result in an abrupt movement when letting off the gas. Now on to my Q... whether it be clutch modulating,

letting rpms drop, take off speed, etc... how do you guys ease that 1-2 shift from first gen Gs?

when accelerating in first gear, the car likes when u take off ur foot from the accelerator pedal smoothly before pressing the clutch in. That is the only advice i can give. Other than that im sure u do everything else correctly. Just to let u know it took me over year and a half to get this smooth consistently.

Switching to synthetic clutch and tranny fluid also made the tranny much smoother.

change gears at 3k rpm and before letting go of the clutch into second gear, give a bit of gas then let go fully and give more gas. i cant explain myself well. eh

it really depends how u drive. In reality there should be no reason to give that extra blip when engaging to second gear. U should let the clutch out at the perfect RPM and the car will engage very smoothly into second gear without blipping the throttle.

Hey klubb i was thinking of changing out the fluids too to try to make it smoother, but I'm not sure if I should do that

yet with only 4.5K miles on the clock. (?)

4.5k, i think there is no point. I thought u had the car longer than that. I would wait till 10-15k at least. But at 4.5k u shouldn't be complaining about jerky 1-2 shifts.
