People with Amsoil 75w90 in 6MT...

I installed and hoped it would take care of my 2nd gear grind I get alot when its cold. Seems its happening a little now when its warm, but rarely. I talked to teh dealer, and they said they have had no tranny problems since hte G35 has been out, so go figure. Anyways, to what I have read, it seems to be a normal issue. I plan to ignore it unless it just gets worse and does it all the time, but did amsoil upgrade help any?

Your dealer may not have seen any problems with the 6MT but I have had my 6MT replaced twice. The first time was for grinding going into and downshifting into 5th gear. The 2nd time was due to hard shifts into 1st and 2nd gear. Plus there was a whinning when the engine was cold. That was due to the throw out bearing being damaged when the tranny was replaced.

Be relentless with the dealer, they will eventually replace the tranny. I have 36K miles on my G now. I got it back in Feb. 2003, it was one of the first 6MT sedans that came out, I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not.

Good luck

Changing to synthetic tranny oil isn't going to cure any grinds that you have. Synthetic tranny oil will just make your shifting smoother and better on cold startups. If your truly have grinding problems that is a transmisson issue and not the oil. Try your hardest to have a dealer address your grinding issue.

If he finds out you put new tranny fluid in the car, then be prepared to hear them blame your tranny fluid..Those dealers truly can be idiots sometimes...
