A quick way to determine 6MT transmission revision

Just in case anyone is wondering which manual transmission version they have, here's a quick way.

Take a digital camera, and reach under the passenger front tire, lying in front of the car (please do this on a level surface, I'm not responsible if you run yourself over).

If you can maneuver the camera behind the suspension, you can snap some pretty clear shots of the sticker on the side of the transmission. It may take a few tries, but this shouldn't take more than a minute.

I assume if you had a light source and could remember what it says.

Sorry, I'm pretty new to the 6MT G35's, so I figured that most people already knew the differences:

Copy paste from my350z.com. There appears to be 10 versions of our 6mt transmissions:

Revisions 000 through 004:
1st: double synchro
2nd: double synchro
3rd: single synchro
4th: single synchro
5th: single synchro
6th: single synchro

Revision 005 through 008:
1st: double synchro
2nd: triple synchro
3rd: double synchro
4th: double synchro
5th: single synchro
6th: single synchro

Revision 009:
1st: triple synchro
2nd: triple synchro
3rd: triple synchro
4th: double synchro
5th: single synchro
6th: single synchro

You need a light source. My camera's flash is sufficient. I was also able to see the numbers with a flashlight, but no one believes you on the web without a pic.

Just a quick question, I did this and also have looked at it while my car was jacked up and my sticker has been SCRATCHED off!!! Is there any other way to tell?? Maybe a phone call to the dealer or some sort of other label/characteristic of the transmission? I have an '05 6MT...

My vehicle is built date 06/2005 and has a cd009. 350z started seeing them in 07/04 for cd009 revision.

Interesting, thanks for the insight! Mine is an 01/05 so I'm hoping that I might be lucky enough to have the CD009....check out my sticker though

Just bought a tranny from an '05 350z build date is 09/04, it has the CD02 I believe. Just for the record, don't go by the model year. I figured I was fine 100% since it was an '05 but that is not the case. $650 shipped... Eh, I'll run it. Seems good, no grinds in any gear turning by hand. But it is definitely not a CD009, the shift bracket also reflects that it is not a CD009.

JN1AZ34E85M651915 Is the vin for those of you interested.

Edit Confirmed it is a CD009.
