Will a 2005 transmission work in a 2003?
Whats going on guys? Does anyone know if a transmission from a 2005 will work in a 2003? I know they added rev matching to one of the newer years, but not sure exactly what year...let me know.

+1 i want to know this too
...i'm thinking it'll bolt right up with no problems, but maybe some electronic issues, such as VDC, ABS, maybe even the speed sensors? That's just my wild guess.

You guys have different transmission types listed in your sigs.
For 6mt, should be an easy swap.
For 5AT, I think the newer years have the TCU somewhere in the transmission unit. Not 100% sure, but I remember that there's some changes, and I'm inclined to say that you can't do a straight swap.

Won't work. You need the tranny and the tranny TCM and I highly doubt the 2003 engine ECU harness to TCM match that of the 05+ TCM.

From the '03's I drove (I worked at an Infiniti dealer) I remember if you floored the 03's while in MM when it got to redline it would shift for you if you didn't. In the 04+ if you were in MM and got to redline it wouldn't shift for you, just bang off the limiter until you did decided to upshift (my '04.5 does this). You don't have to let off the gas to shift at all.
You saying that bounces [once?] then goes below 6700 and shifts for you maybe the same thing I'm trying to describe. Even if the '03 does just bounce for a second before it shifts the later year models will let you bounce off the rev limit all day in any gear.

Depends where your TCM is located. Early autos had them inside the cabin. Later models had them inside the tranny. So phyically it should bolt up. Wiring the damn thing might be a problem
