Manumatic/Triptronic and modifying the engagement?

Hope everyone on the forum is doing alright and realizing that I am a noob to the site and the car(03' manumatic coupe). So please take it easy on me as I have a question.

When switching over to the manumatic gears from drive, I notice there is a delay or lag I should say when switching gears. Is there any way to modify the transmission to eliminate the lag and the feel that I am riding a non existant clutch? I know if I wanted that I should have gotten a 6mt but I wanted something that had a little of both cause I'd get tired of switching gears all the time.I'm coming from a 400hp turbo charged Acura Integra so I know what the constant gear shifting feels like.

Thanks,
Darkdayz

I think you can buy a transmission valve body upgrade which will give you crisper shifts. I have the same thing on my 06' , and it really gets annoying to always shift before you ACTUALLY want to shift to counter the lag. Here is the link: http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?i...odel=G35%202DR

I would just get use to it, you'll learn to time all your shifts, but if you really want to upgrade, then go with a Valve Body Upgrade, it will make you shift faster, crisper and harder. I recommend the GTM or SGP VB Upgrade tho, in my opinion the Stillen doesn't do much difference and even though it's a little cheaper, it's not worth it, don't get it. But if your NA seriously don't worry about it, i recommend VB when going internals or FI. I got the GTM one.

GTM

I have the Stillen - it shifts a little slower than stock (long story). Get one of the other two.

Read the reviews on Gord's grounding gear in the reviews section.

There was also a post about modifying the actual switch in the center console to permit more precise, reliable shifting (if that is a problem).

Good luck. The GTM valve body is STRONG! You will chirp your tires as you change gears - it is phenomenal. Keep in mind that it will take some getting used to - more sport, less luxury!

Thanks people! I really didnt know some of these products existed and I honestly was trying to stay away from modifying yet another cars engine etc, but it looks like I maybe changing my mind.

In reference to the valve body upgrade or torque converter upgrade, how Violent does it shift when in the higher rpm range for the people that have it?

The GTM is also quite strong as mentioned above. That said the shifts are smoother with only light throttle. At WOT, the shifts are very strong but honestly with the engine roaring and the scenery turning to a blur, a quick, hard shift fits right in.
