Does a manual transmission have a TCM?

To make a long story short, the dealer is saying that the reason for my 5th gear "grind" is due to the fact that my ECU/ECM depending on make of car was damaged by water, which inevitably is sending the wrong signal to the TCM causing grinding...

I thought TCM's were only placed in automatic transmission cars? Or am I mistaken?

Chris

BTW, the grind comes from rowing through 1-4, then going to 5th... it's been witnessed by others on the board, and remedied by a tranny swap
