For GTM? Nothing. If you send your VB to them, they simply install a transgo kit in there and send it back.

I have the transgo kit, but purchased mine from Forged. (Same as GTM) Paid $520 labor for install which didn't include the price of the J matic fluid. 7-8 quarts at $10 a bottle

here too... 1200 for VB (that was before the kit was announced)... thats why I've been asking for labor every since the transgo kit price came out (even just how long it takes – I can calculate the labor cost if I knew how long)... interesting that Forged charges only $520… hmmmm, maybe a GB on labor from GTM? Or maybe I’ll have to source a trans shop…

BTW - Forged is in GA.... cost of living isnt that different GA from CA

Trying to do exactly that up here in the NW also. IMHO it's criminal how much VB mods cost.

I'm looking at doing it this summer. I don't think its a mod I'd want to take on myself though mainly because of the cost of a new valve body if we screwed up.

Realistically, I expect labor costs to be based on 4-8 hours of labor (depending on skill of the tech or predetermined rate) * shop rate + cost of fluid + tax. I figure my trusted shop, 6 hours of labor + fluid would be in the $500-550 range for labor.

In regards to the GTM quote, I think they charge $120 per hour for labor? I could be wrong, but though that's what I remember being told. Based on 6 hours for the job, that would explain $1000 including the cost of the kit.

Pm me if yall want it done, I do it at a resonable price. I own 2 transmission shops down here in Louisiana and have done some of these vb upgrades and have done my own car too. I myself have been working on transmission for about 15 years now and have done many different types of shift kits . On a scale of 1-10 on difficulty, I would rate this prob a 9. If youve never done one before, I dont recommend you try b/c just a little mistake on these vb could mess it up completely and the vb would not be repairable.

JJyellow's done the valve body upgrade to my car, and it does make it shift a lot more firm, and also a lil quicker. I've also had my acura TL's transmission fixed there (2nd gen is known for problems) before i owned a G35 and didn't even know him back then. I went to him b/c i hear they do good work, and offer a warranty. Price was also good too...
