i drove up to a buddies house of mine today to go see the dark knight and low and behold i cant put the car into 5th gear from fourth gear.....then i realize driving down the road as i am becoming more and more annoyed that i can put the car in fifth gear but only when i goto six gear first.....anyone heard of this problem or have any ideas

could it be the linkage or what not...also the shifter feels more looser and with alot more play...i havent modded anything on the tranny at all

 

Are you under 6 years/70,000 miles?

If so your powertrain warranty is still good. Take it to Infiniti of Tyson's Corner.

 

yea im so stoked ...haha i have the 60k one i think and im at 59600 so i gotta watch where i drive

 

update...just talked to the dealer and they said i have the 70k powertrain and i am in luck...bad news they want to charge me 120 dollars for a diagnosis to make sure its the tranny thats messed up and then they have to look at it and see if it was abused...my question is how the hell do you know if a trannys been abused or not..ive only had the car less than four months so i know it wudnt have been me

 

Doesn't matter who abused when you buy used you get all the previous owners germs and afflictions.

Several members on here have had a transmission replaced under warranty.

You have an '03. You're 10,000 miles below the powertrain warranty limit. Transmission problems happen. What dealer did you take it to?

If it is work covered under warranty you don't have to pay a cent for a diagnosis or anything else.

ive only had the car two and a half months and i have never beating it per say.....so hopefully the owner before me didnt...i think the dealer said the diagnosis is to see if their is a problem other then the tranny but it is rembersable if its found to be what is covered under warranty..

i am taking it to the infiniti dealer in annapolis.have you heard anything about them since your near or close by?

hopefully they will sort all this out w/o to much trouble...it wud suck if it wasnt covered and i would be calling right upto the lexus dealer i got her from....thanks for the advice tho

 

I haven't heard anything bad about either Infiniti of Tyson's Corner or Infinti of Annapolis.
