ATF, differential, transfer, coolant fluid questions...
Hi all,
I've read numerous threads regarding ATF, Differential, Coolant fluid change interval but it doesn't seem to match against the Infiniti manual.
Tons of people changed or drained/refilled their ATF at 30k miles and changed their Differential/Coolant fluid at 30k.
I have a 05x and according to the manual, coolant should be replaced at 60k or 4 yrs and ATF is just inspect at 15k, 30k, 45k, 60k schedule 1 or schedule 2. So is there any reason you guys are changing them before the recommended interval?
My car is now a week shy of 4 years at under 29k miles. So it meets the time interval but not miles. I haven't done any of these. Should I be doing them?
Thanks...

What you choose to do for maintenance is really up to you.
There is very basic scheduled maintenance which covers changing oil, air filters, and a host of checks.
When you see people changing ALL the fluids in addition to all the system checks I think Infiniti considers this premium maintenance. It's listed somewhere in the owner's manual because I can remember seeing it.
Some things to consider:
When I bought my sedan (G35X) it was used and right at 30K miles. Not knowing who it was that owned it before me or how they drove it I elected to change/flush all the fluids. In your case, where you have owned the car it's entire life, you are probably OK with the basic scheduled maintenance assuming you don't thrash the car when you drive it. If you drive it hard, live in a harsh environment, or are just paranoid, you might want to consider going all out.
That being said... I don't think I have ever owned a vehicle and not flushed the fluids completely every four years (or sooner as is needed), and I certainly don't beat my cars. Maybe I'm one of the paranoid ones. /shrug
Short version
There isn't really a right or wrong answer. If you drive it hard or live in a harsh environment you will need to flush the fluids sooner than someone who doesn't (if you want to get the most life out of the car).
For yourself, you can look at in the sense of "Is $300-$500 every four years for all this maintenance worth knowing that it's done as good as possible"?

Anyway, since my car will be meeting the 4 yr time period I will have to set a time to change all those fluids. Thanks!
