Clutch noise during cold start

Clutch noise during cold start
On cold mornings or when i haven't driven it for a few days, my '03 6MT makes a LOUD moaning, grinding noise at start up. I can feel vibration in the clutch pedal. The noise and the vibration go away when i let the clutch out. I can alter the pitch of the noise by varying the position of the clutch pedal.
At first it would do this every once in a while, but now it has become more frequent. It ONLY happens when the car is cold or hasn't been driven for a few days. It never happens on subsequent starts once it's warmed up!?!?!?!
Does anyone know what could be causing this?? any help is GREATLY appreciated!
