:: Carbonetic clutch - READ ::

Can anyone tell me what the differences are between Carbonetic's twin disc "Standard" (street and track) and "Type R" (drag) clutches?

It's not the pressure plate because both Standard and Type R come with either an 1100kg or 1350kg pressure plate. It's not the lw flywheel either since they both come with it as well.

Really impatient right now and Carbonetic is closed today and maybe Monday since it's MLK Day...What could "drag" mean in comparison to "street and track", how different could it be.

Here's the part # I'm talking about: ACN23285L-14 (under Sykline - twin disc)

And here is Carbonetic's listing: http://www.carbonetic.net/match/others_nissan.html

A drag racing clutch is going to be really stout and will take the abuse of the power. It will behave like an on/off switch because it will grab hard. It's not intended for street use because it's nearly impossible to modulate for smooth operation. A drag clutch will also be hell on the tranny because it can grab so hard. The clutch will no longer be the weak link. Instead, something else will become the leak link and that would probably be the input shaft. A street/track clutch isn't going to grab near as hard and will be easier to modulate. Either way, you're going to be in for a nasty driving experience because both those clutches will be tiring for street use because they'll be far harder to modulate than stock.

Dave, I think you have good points. I'm gonna send it back and get the 1100kg twin disc Standard clutch kit.

This one I have in front of me is the 1350kg twin disc Type R and it's going to be just to intense for a daily driver.
