Automatic Transmission flush

I have an '03 with a little over 41K miles. Should I get a transmission flush? I ask the dealership, the service guy told me that I don't need to change it until 60K miles. I kinda want to change it because the car is 6 years old and I have a coupon from the dealership for flush and fill at $198.

Anyways.

I got almost 74k on mine and I was doing my oil changes at the dealership till bout 70k and they never once suggested to change tranny fluid.

I will be doing it prolly this weekend.......that and rear diff fluid.

Both auto and manual trannys and all diffs get a fluild change at 45,000 miles or 36 months (Schedule 1) which ever comes first. You should ONLY use Nissan J matic fluid in the auto.

Service manual says 10 qt...........that's allllllllot

Dude in this video http://www.infinitihelp.com/diy/gsed...on_service.htm only drains 3.5 qt and replaces only 3.5 qt

The description of the video says it's AT tranny.

There is 10 or 11qts in the tranny. Doing a complete flush will require that you need that many. Just draining it will only take about 4-5 qts.

capacity = 10 qts or so. Flush is going to to take more than that. But it's not like you need to worry about the amount as one can't flush it DIY unless you own that expensive machine.

Flush /= drain and fill.

The need for a flush/drain is highly dependant on how you drive. If you try to keep up with E36 M3s all day, then you will stress your fluid and need a change sooner.

I would rather have it flushed to get allmost all the old fluid out....but dont use any of the cleaners they use just exchange the fluid.

you don't need any special machine to flush it

all you got to do is

Undo the return hose
start the engine and have it idle
and keep on putting fresh fluid in the tranny till clean fluid starts coming out of the return hose.
