Yes just unbolt the whole pumpkin and swap, that what I'm doing. My car is an 05 sport and it has a Differential. I just changed the fluid on it not too long ago.

that’s not even remotely true... aftermarket are better, however OEM is not anything like open diff.

Additionally, I believe VLSD became an option for AT.

well it does make both wheels spin at the same time, making it easier to get out of snow or mud, it just takes a second or two before the other wheel engages, so it isn't pretty much like an open diff but better

lift the rear up at the differential and rotate one wheel forward. the other one should rotate the same direction. lsd is installed. if the other rotates opposite or doesn't at at all then most likely no lsd.

yeah but don't jack it at the diff with the stock jack or you'll get killed most likely, one other way is to jack up one wheel and try to rotate it with the e-brake released if its hard to rotate or u can't rotate at all then u have lsd, but i don't know if that will work on a VLSD since the other wheel grabs after the first one starts spinning so i don't know if this rule applies to VLSD u'd have to spin it pretty fast i'm guessing

This thread was started in the sedan section so I believe it is regarding a sedan.

From what I understand the 03/04 sedans only the 6MT came with the VLSD. The 05/06 came with one for both the 6MT and 5AT (sport model).

also some say the that the 03.5 6MTs don't have VLSD, only later on, but this isn't true for Canadian models, i think all Canadian 6mts came with a VLSD, also leather and sunroof was standard on canadian models they all got it

Respectfully submitted, you are wrong, Diamond.

I have an '04 6MT Sedan, bought new 04/2004.

1) 17" wheels on all models of 2004.
2) 6 spoke 17"s on the non-Sport Package, 5 spoke 17"s on '04s equipped with Sport Package.
3) All Sport Package equipped 2004's have VLSD, whether auto or MT.
4) All 2004 6MT's are equipped with Sport Package, so ALL 2004 6MT's have 5 spoke 17" rims and VLSD.
5) 2003 6 MT's did NOT have VLSD, wasn't an option, Sport Package or not. (MT did not become available till late in '03 model year)

That's it, my friends.

I don’t believe this is all accurate... I know the sales brochure does not mention vlsd as an option for any line AT until 2005. I don’t believe the AT in 04 had the option.

Also, are you positive all 04 were 17" and no 18" option?
