clutch or tranny? help!

ok guys tonight i threw it into reverse to back into my driveway and all of a sudden my clutch stuck to the floor when i let out to back up. clutch has not been slipping or any sign that its going. i then had to pull the clutch out with my foot behind it to disengage it and then i put it into neutral. it will now not get into a gear but will engage but when engages it sticks to the floor.

is this something with the tranny or clutch by the sound of it?
what could it be i really hate to pay for something so expensive
thanks

master cylinder or slave cylinder is gone. look under the car for a nice puddle.

Correct, it is most likely a Slave or Master Cylinder issue, and though problems of this type can lead the Slave Cylinder to pop (blowing out its seals) you can also have issues of this type if the Slave or Master a bypassing fluid internally. If the seals go then you will have a puddle. If the assemblies are bypassing fluid internally you will not have a puddle. Check for the obvious puddles first. If you don't see evidence of a leak on the ground then check the firewall near the master cylinder. If it is the Master you can find fluid both in the engine bay and in the cars floor-board. Check it out and let us know what you find.
