A/T upgrade possible?

Hey guys.
As most of you guys know my A/T is messed up (my reverse gear is slipping).
I read that I could increase my gear ratio, which would make the car faster. Is this possible on an A/T? If so which gear ratio and company should I buy?
What does a transmission oil cooler do? Does this upgrade make the car faster?
Im thinking about getting a turbo kit or S/C kit in a year or so, would a higher gear ratio and transmission cooler be able to handle the power?
thanks for the help guys!

Stillen has a Valve Body upgrade for us AT guys especially used for when you want to go FI. I would ask someone like G35man04 who had a ATI Procharger on his G with AT. I cant think of anyone else off the top of my head tho. You'll def need to do something to your tranny before going FI tho.

Why cause im a auto and i never loose any boost between shifts like the 6mt.Also do not bother with the stillen vb as its lame and dosent do much.Get the one from GTM or check out SFR's site for trans mods.

I have a vb from forgred performance and a large trans cooler and mine shifts so hard that itll snap your neck back but is docile driving normally.

Changing the final drive ratio has to do with the rear end, not the tranny. What it does is shorten your final drive so you get through the gears faster. Cons are that they will lower your top speed and make the car rev higher than before at the same speed. Pro is that you gain acceleration.

What does a transmission oil cooler do? Does this upgrade make the car faster?
It keeps your tranny cooler, helping to extend its life and not overheat. It does nothing for the speed of your car. If you are making a lot of power over stock it's a good idea to upgrade the cooler since you are putting more strain on the tranny.

Don't get the Stillen VB. I did and it totalled my transmission. I had to send the VB back to Stillen, they "fixed" it (but it wasn't their fault) and I had to completely replace the internals on the tranny. Ended up costing $9 k. Stillen paid $ 3k (but it wasn't their fault).

You can get a fully built 5AT able to handle 600 whp+ for about half that price from either GTM or IPT.

A final drive with increased (shorter) ratio will REDUCE top speed but will increase acceleration in every gear.

Already know, been there, done that, and it sucks, esp. on this platform.

Only if you want a slower 1/4 mile time. A built 5AT provides for a full boost, no lift, full throttle shift - FTW. Slap on some paddle shifters and it's 1/4 mile heavan. Unless you're drifting, the 5AT is the way to go, esp. for FI.
