I drive an '05 Coupe, 6MT. I know the Gs are notorious for tranny chatter, but I'm not sure what I hear is what everybody else is experiencing. First, when starting from a stop in 1st gear the tranny sometimes shakes something fierce for a second or so. Secondly, when I am in any gear and I gas it when it's lower than 3k RPM, I can hear the tranny rattle. This is most noticeable near walls, etc. Is what I'm experiencing normal? If not, would replacing the tranny mount help? Is it a DIY job? One last thing, I was going to install an engine torque damper, is there a chance that will cut down on the tranny shaking/rattling?

Any help is appreciated.

 

Not the solution you are looking for but installing the engine torque damper will transfer more of the vibrations through the chassis. In which case you will just increase the vibrations.
