Any advice? I can't downshift into 3rd or 4th.
Hi all. I'm a G noob. First post.
I just picked up an 03' coupe with 60k on the clock. I can upshift into all the gears just fine. I can down shift into all of them except 3rd and 4th. For those two, it's almost as if there is something blocking the gears, even though I know there isn't. No noise, just won't go in. However, if I am in 5th and need to down shift to 4th in traffic, I will hold in the clutch and put it into 2nd, pull it out of 2nd and then into 4th (or 3rd if I need that gear instead) all while still pressing in the clutch and it goes into gear just fine. Like I said, up shifting is a breeze. So weird.
Any ideas? Could this be a synchromesh issue? I figured it would affect both up and down shifting if it was, but I'm probably wrong. I was lurking the forum and just now saw a post about checking fluids. Could that be the answer. I can check the upper reservoir when I get home.
A second question: The car is only a week old and the dealer I purchased from covers the engine and drivetrain for the first 30 days sans the clutch part of the tranny. If it is the synchros, those are more tranny than clutch, correct? I should be calling the dealer on this one, I know. I will.
Anyways, so far I've only lurked and the forum has been pretty insightful.
