What transmission oil to use

I have a 2006 G35 coupe MT. Just wondering what transmission oil to use and if anyone knows how much the 30K service is at the dealership

for your transmission any sort of 75W90 GL4 would be fine

but use synthetic

the OEM trans fluid is pretty good, you pretty much get a guarentee of its quality...if you want an alternative a comparible spec from Amsoil is always nice as well. I put the Amsoil in mine and it seems to be working great.

As I recall Amsoil makes a few different types. Which are you using?

I'm actually going to have my transmission fluid and gear oil changed today. My master techincian is recommending BG Synchroshift II 75w90 for the transmission and BG Ultra Guard 75w140 for the differential. Has anyone used these products? I'm more concerned with the viscosity of the differential fluid.

I like the Royal Purple 75W-90. I use it in my differential. I have 5AT so OEM fluid for me.

there is no cap. there is a fill plug on the passenger side which it identical to the drain plug on the bottom. You can only get to the drain and fill from under the car, no you won't be able to look in nor will you be able to pour in. You need to get a fluid pump and pump it in. When it starts dripping from the fill hole it is full

for the 6MT, OEM or amsoil for the transmission and the rear differential. My car luvs amsoil and seems to work the best for the hot and cold seasons.

You'll find at least one complaint about the other brands and zero complaints on amsoil. With with the other brands, they either had problems during winter, or summer(vice-versa).

Hey all, newbie question.
I'm going to do the 60K service and for the rear diff do I need to use some kind of friction modifier? I have a 05 with viscous limited slip diff.

Thank you!

I "searched" the entire 3 pages of this section (lol) and found this thread and I've been meaning to ask: Has anyone run Redline MT-90 tranny fluid in their cars? I had it in my Supra's R154 tranny and it absolutely loved it, so I was wondering how these would work in a Nissan tranny.

dont get Redline....its good but not good for daily driving. At cold start, you will find a horrible time trying to shift into 2nd gear or even getting into first at a stop sign until you completely stop the car. The gears are a bit sticky and harder to get into ( slower to get into )....its my own personal opinion.......I just changed it like 1000 miles ago. Maybe the oil hasnt broken in yet but thats my 2 cent. I used Redline MTL 75w90 GL4. Please dont flame on this comment if others disagree, its just what i'm experiencing.

Questions though, someone please answer for me please. I have 64K miles on my car and did my FIRST transmission oil changed, when i drained it, the oil is completely clean, it looks like apple juice, perhaps cleaner, i see no metal shavings and looks as if the oil is new, is that normal? I feel that it was a waste of my money and stock fluid by changing to redline...felt no difference, perhaps worst. I hear a clunk when i shift into first gear and gear noise are loud when going to 2nd and third.... I drained the fluid all the way and filled it into the filler plug until it drips out and then i plugged it back. What did i do wrong if i am wrong. But is that normal, are there alot of Gs experiencing this noise? Any experience and help would greatly be appreciated, thanks.
