Angry Tranmission noise

hi all, i'm new with G35 forum. I bought used 2004 G35 sedan and everytime the tran switch from 1st shift to second - it makes a grind noise. But if i keep the car idle for 5 minutes startup - there will be no grind noise.

Does anyone know what's wrong?

Thanks much

Check transmission fluid level. Same happened in my 5at. Found out that the trans cooler hose was torn slightly.

i just found out someone else talking about it's normal because ABS self test check before the car take off. Does it make sense?

This is what I was going to suggest. With the ABS self test you should hear a sort of "clunk" when you first start driving.

If you're hearing this "grinding" noise after you've been driving for a bit and are pulling away after stopping at a light or something, then it's not the ABS self test.

If it happens "every time" you shift from 1st to 2nd it sounds like your synchro is going out. Pretty common on the 6MT's.
