Hey guys,

Anybody have a clue why tiptronic won't let me change gears sometimes?

Its only occurred twice (maybe 3 times) in the last month or two, sometimes if I rev hard and try switching gears (usually from first to second) it won't let me change gears. I think once it happened when I was doing going from reverse to drive.

 

might be a faulty sensor or something.. you can bring it in?

 

I could try to bring it in, I bought the car in Feb and i'm not sure if it would still be under warranty?

04 g35 coupe?

This problem doesn't occur that often, but its happen a few times.
It wouldnt have anything to do with tranny fluid or anything like that would it?

Usually I accelerate pretty hard for this to happen

 

I once had the car stuck in 4th.. The number 4 just popped up on the screen thing. Downshifting and up shifting didn't do anything.. I popped it in D and it still remained in 4th.. with the number 4 up on the screen.. I shut the car off while rolling and put it in neutral.. Started it back up, and put it in D... Car revved and caught up with the RPMS and everything worked fine since then.

This was about 2 months ago.

 

^ I remember test driving a car that the screen said 4 all the time even though it changed gears.. weird

 

That would be an 03/04 sedan.

 

If the tranny fluid is too hot, it won't let you shift in manu-matic.

You should consider putting a external tranny cooler on if this has happened to you. Good time to consider changing the fluid as well as it most likely was exposed to high temps.
