Anyone having clutch/tranny noises on stock 6MT?

Hey guys,

as usual, thanks for the wealth of information you all post here.

The past few days, I've noticed my 6MT making a soft "shoosh shoosh shoosh" noise whenever I take it out of gear and release the clutch. It's most noticeable when I pull in the garage, take the car out of gear, and release the clutch. While the clutch is depressed, no sound. When I release the cluth, sound starts.

Also, when I turn the car off without the clutch depressed, I hear a slight rattle as the engine dies down.

Any ideas? Thank God for factory warranty. If nobody here has any ideas, I'm off to the dealership.

Many thanks in advance,
-Alan

They will likely tell you its totally normal. There are several of us with this annoying problem but really not much can be done about it. Some 350Z's have even had their tranny replaced and still had the rattle. Good luck and it never hurts to see if they can do something about it.

Hell, the dealer was able to duplicate the gear grinding in my trans and Inf tech/engineering in CA still didn't want to replace it under warranty. Took me two weeks of arguing to get it replaced. All is good now.. no throw out bearing noise, chatter, or grinding.

Oh bloody hell.

They're gonna tell me it's NORMAL??? My parents' old 1993 Toyota Corolla doesn't make this much racket, and it drives like a damn go-kart.

Sigh. Oh well. I'm still taking it to the dealer. Thanks for your help guys.
