Transmission rattle noise

I recently had my clutch and flywheel replaced and now I'm having a transmission rattle! It's most noticed in 3rd gear. Took it back to the transmission shop I had the clutch done and had them take a look to see if it was related to the new clutch (btw its excedy clutch and flywheel). They say they're 90% sure it's not clutch related and the noise is definitely coming from the transmission. The trans fluid is clean and they say it's most likely a bad baring or maybe a tooth broke off.

My question is, 1. could replacing the clutch cause this problem?
and 2. If it truly is an unrelated trans. problem, will infiniti cover it under the drivetrain warranty?

I've already dumped a lot of money into this car in repairs.

thanks everyone

replaced my friends flywheel and clutch...he has a very sporatic rattle as well. Not all the way through hit and miss. No way to predict it.

Is that similar to the sound you are getting? His is more common when the car is operating at full operating temp (after driving for 10-15 min)

This is normal if you replace the stock flywheel with a single mass one. This noise is often referred to as chatter. If you hold the clutch in the noise should go away.

Its actually called "clatter".

Its completely normal for a lightweight flywheel.

I was answering the OPs question since he was asking.

Not sure which of the two is the actual correct word to use to describe this phenomena, but they are both used interchangeably with chatter being the more popular one.

Finally figured it out. The shifter boot was displaced causing the rattle in the shifter and allowing a lot of noise to come through as well. Yeah I know the clatter noise from the lightweight flywheel. Thanks everyone
