Diff cover stud bolt
Ok I have a dilema right now, i went to swap in my 3.5 vLSD rear end, and the old rear ends bolt the goes to the stud through the sub frame, pictured in the attachment stripped out. I used a bolt extractor and the whole stud came out! Come to find out the stud had been cross threaded before and was not allowing it to come out. I have a new stud but not the bolt. The local nissan dealer dosen't stock the nut and can't get it until late next week and courtesyparts dosent have it in stock. So does anyone know what size and thread pitch this nut is that I could get one to install temporarily until I get the actual nut? I have home depot and a few hardware stores nearby so as long as I can get the size I'll be good, or if anyone is local, tampa/st petersburg fl area and has a spare let me know.

as i said, whoever had installed the nut before cross-threaded it. So therefor that wouldn't help. It looks like 12 with 1.25 or 1.0 threads but home depot didnt have 12 with that fine of threads, nor did they have a grade 8 bolt close to that, only zinc.
You said you have a new stud??? As I said, Take the new stud and find a nut that will thread on. I would go to a shop that deals in fasteners and take the new stud and the old stuff and match it up.

new stud is on the new diff, i get what your saying though. i wasnt going to bring a 50lb diff into home depot, for one its allready installed in the car minus that nut.
I was going to say take the good stud out of the diff....but the way I did that was to double nut it
and it comes out easy but if you had two nuts that fit we wouldn't have this thread
.
I think both sides of the stud are the same pitch take the old one in and use the side that was in the diff to determine pitch. i have an extra stud and nut but no way of determaning pitch right now
sorry.

The ends are totally different one is very coarse(diff side) and one is very fine (cross member side) so it looks like you are screwed. i would take the old stud and eye ball it and buy 4-5 nuts if need be
sorry i can't be help.
