6MT Rebuild Kit

I'm having problems finding a rebuild kit for my 03 sedan. I contacted infinitipartsusa.com and they said they don't offer a rebuild kit, but rather I would have to replace the tranny. Has anyone rebuilt their transmission? If so, care to share where you got a rebuild kit?

Why are you guys having to rebuild your transmissions? Sorry if this is a dumb question, this car is my first 6MT so I'm a bit clueless coming from all autos, which I've never once had to rebuild or repair.

Is this normal to have to rebuild or replace manual transmissions??

Completely dependent on your trans build number. There have been 9 different versions of our transmissions from the start until 2008 I believe.
My trans ('05), is really hard to get into 2nd gear while cold. (first five minutes of driving) then it's smooth as silk.
More syncros were added the higher the build number. More info on the different versions here.

Oh I see. My car is an 05 6MT as well so I guess I'm going to have the same problem down the line? I only have 19k on it right now but if I pop it into neutral rolling to a stop and then traffic gets going again, I feel some resistance popping it back into 3rd or 4th. Other than that, it feels nice.

Sorry, been out for awhile, the wife and I had a baby. I actually found and contacted drivetrain.com about my transmission (03) and this is what I got back:

We can provide a master overhaul kit that will include all major bearing, gaskets
and seal order our part number DTSBK481 FS6R3 your cost is $546.00 plus $16.50 S&H.

You can order on our secure site at https://www.drivetrain.com/secure/ez_order_form.html

Or just give me a call toll free 877-572-7876.

Thanks

Bart

It doesn't say anything about the syncros, which is my main concern. I think I'm going to end up buying a rebuilt transmission from a company that specializes in rebuilds and not worry about the headache.
