Update!

Well after 436miles of royal purple full synthetic in my man transmisson. I just changed back to Nissan OEM man transmission fluid (9.36$ quart). And..... transmission returns to flawless fluid shifts! . I join the legions of G35 owners that swear by OEM and no other.......

I have an 04 and switched to RP. I was having a couple issues before and the RP fixed the issues for about 2000 miles but same issues as before are back now. But no hard shifting, just my grinding into 5th (which was before RP swap also)

Thats interesting. As I said above I had absolutely 0 issues before I switched to RP., merely changed as a maintenance thing. And I immediately had touch time shifting between first and second.

Being an 05 and having the 009 trans maybe that is why. I only have a 008 so that MAY have something to do with it. I'm updating soon to a 009 because of grinding 5th issues (going to dealer tomorrow, wish me luck!) after that in 60,000 I'll switch to RP again and see if any issues arise.

I did mine last wk with oem with no issues and did my buddies today with oem but I almost went with RP, glad I didn't.

Did u change ur diff fluid to? Being that u are 42k might b a good ideas to change here soon. Don't think they have oem fluid for it though. When I went to the to the dealer they sd me pennzoil.

Nissan MTF FTW

Hey guys,

I've done a few transmission fluid flushes and I've found the Nissan MTF 75w85 to work the best. I've used Motul 75w85 cl4 before for a while and that was good too. But please guys and gals, do not use cl5 or cl4/cl5 combination fluids because your transmission will start to make a lot of noise when it's cold (or even in chilly temps) . Not to mention very notchy and uncomfortable shifts when cold. After flushing out my cl4 Motul two months ago and refilling it with cl4/cl5 Motul 75w90, I immediately heard the infamous cold start "howling noise". The sound persisted to come back every cold start until fully warm. I've driven my g35 coupe for about 7 years and those was the most annoying drives. As soon as the temperature dipped below 10 Celsius you had the sound and notchy shifts at cold start. Horrible. Anyway fortunately I didn't drive much sine and today I switched the fluid to Nissan MTF 75w85 and the problem is gone. I'm sure I will get some howling noise when the temp goes below freezing but I guess I won't know until next year (and hopefully not until next year )

I was looking at Redline for a while but decided to go OEM and I think I made the right choice.

Anyways long story short stick with OEM or at least make sure to buy cl4 type fluid only. A quick search will show that I'm not the only one with similar results.

Ps. I'm using Motul diff fluid and it feels great!

Cheers!
