Single-Mass flywheel
Single-Mass flywheel
So i looked around and cant really find anything on whats going on with my new clutch system.
I just got installed my Z1 Motorsports Clutch/Single-Dual Flywheel combo on 06 sedan and having major problems and its not the chatering. Whats going on is when im taking of in 1st gear and i give it less then 2k rpm my car shakes like crazy 3 or 4 times this thing also happens when im shifting to other gears under 2k rpm. It seems like the car is about to die/stall and transmission about to fall out. So is this normal for single-dual flywheel or not.
Shop that installed it for me told me Single-Mass flywheel will put out excessive noise & harmonic vibration lack of factory harmonic dampening.
Please help im trying to sell this car and there is no way somebody will buy it like this, is there something that the shop screwed up on or should i just get the whole new setup.

reving higher than stock is required when going from 1st gear. our flywheels weigh about 31lbs. anything lighter than this will need higher revs and higher gear changing because the rotational mass is not as before. as you already know chatter and vibrations come with aftermarket clutch/flywheel combos. if a low rev is given, you will experience vibrations in the driveline up untill a correct "speed" is reached.
you will need to determine if your symptoms stem from improper driving of your new clutch/flywheel or Improper installation.
both are very common and most times its due to improper installation.
the dual mass is intended to dampen most driveline noise and lessen cabin vibrations and give the consumer the most comfort when driving. you have taken away all of those listed when the clutch/flywheel was changed.

Ok i just drove his car and i can control the vibration from 2nd and up gears but from stop and go its almost imposible to do so, no matter how much rpm you give you will still have some kind of vibration from stop and go. How bad is this for transmission and can you reuse your stock flywheel with this clutch combo.
Im just wondering since i just got this combo for myself im at 50+ k miles on my stock and expecting it to go out soon.

driveline wear is accelerated because the dual mass system was replaced.
no you cant use the stock flywheel.
one can tell if there are clutch problems. does the clutch pedal stick? does the gears engage/disengage properly? do you hear bearing noise when in idle?
other than chatter... are there any other metal to metal noises?

Here is the combo http://www.z1motorsports.com/350_g35...oducts_id=2405
It goes from gear to gear smooth, at idle just normal chater sound like this cars always have its only 20 miles on this combo.

I would NEVER put anything with Z1's name on the product in my car...ever again.
I had their 13.75lb flywheel and the heavy duty street clutch and I had nothing but problems.
I won't go in to detail since the issue never was fully resolved but I would highly suggest you replace that combo with something more reputable...
I have the ACT combo now and I haven't looked back.
the only person that was helpful at Z1 was John Parhamm the service manager. He actually listened to my symptoms and did not talk to me like I was an idiot like the rest of those people.(I know my car like the back of my hand and they knew that too)
miserable product, miserable customer service(except John) and they don't stand by their warranty until legal threats are made

I had a similar issue with my stock clutch/flywheel not as harsh as you describe but similar, I changed out my transmission fluid with Nissan MTF and it went away, just a thought.
Redline MT90 Fluid was used
