Odd shifting in Manumatic mode
I just bought my '03 5AT Sedan about a month ago so I'm relatively new to the G scene.
When I switch from Auto to Manumatic and downshift from 4th to 3rd, most often I have to hit it twice before it will actually downshift to 3rd.
The previous owner seems to have put a grounding kit in the car and I'm wondering if that could be the problem if the install was done poorly.
Any thoughts as to what could be going on?

It happens both when I switch from D over and shift down to 3rd and when I'm driving strictly in manumatic mode and downshifting from 4th to 3rd...
Remove the grounding kit and see if that solves your problem.
You could also try doing an ECU reset and see if that helps.
Not a common issue that people deal with, however sometimes the trans can be slow to respond to downshifts in MM.

'03's really didn't like MM too much. They are slow to "think" about shifting. Are you downshifting several gears at a time? Sometimes it will make you wait a few seconds if you've just made another downshift. If you having been driving in 4th for a solid minute and it still takes two tries to get it into 3rd sometimes then it might be a sticking solenoid or some trash in the VB. Do you know if the fluid was ever changed?
