Replacing Clutch Help
I am in the process of looking to buy clutch and have been doing some research. Should I buy a new clutch and flywheel at the same time? Many threads show that might as well replace both. The thing I am worried about is the money. Just got out of college and trying to pay school loans and such. What's the best way you guys suggest as I go through this. I am willing to put up the money but some people said it will be a grand just for the full installion and parts. Help a fellow member out on some questions on clutch (which I am not very familiar with since I never replaced it)
I just had the JWT clutch/flywheel installed and I think you should get both of them done at the same time. The labor for the install was around 700 and the parts were another 700 or so. If you get the OEM stuff it might be a bit cheaper but might as well upgrade if you're paying that much anyway. It's not cheap but it's not something you can just wait on. Unfortunately it looks like you're going to be spending over 1k so I hope you have some cash set aside.
Labor is pretty expensive so I would say cough up the extra cash and get a new flywheel, unless you want to pay another 700. My flywheel was pretty worn at 70k miles. I doubt it would have lasted another 20k miles.
i just went ACT HD SS (organic clutch) like stage 1, and an ACT street light fly wheel…. personally the change was a god send. my G is much easier to drive in my opinion… it was well worth the money. clutch + flywheel = 900 labor = 300

Thanks all for input. I was looking at more of the 1000 range to spend on cltuch/flywheel/installation.
Just trying to figure the "parts list" that I will need to shop for. I see there are kits available?

nope. you can purchase an upgraded clutch line, but usually the throw out bearing and the clutch alignment tool is provided in clutch kits. and you dont necessarily have to buy a flywheel… you can resurface the stock one apparently. i didnt go through that trouble
. i bought an ACT street light fly wheel
…. and it was well worth the money.
